The goal of the workshop is to develop awareness, knowledge and some basic skills that can be used to make informed decisions and take constructive actions to reduce the film industries negative impacts on the environment.

The goal of the workshop is to develop awareness, knowledge and some basic skills that can be used to make informed decisions and take constructive actions to reduce the film industries negative impacts on the environment. First, we will be looking at the purpose of environmental practices and discussing some of the practices that can be used in the film industry to reduce negative environmental impacts. Then by looking at some basic steps and concepts of Environmental Management systems we can learn how to plan, implement, monitor and improve these practice and environmental goals.

  • 2 hours of instruction Instructor: Andrea Walker Andrea has been working in the commercial and film industry for the just over three years as a Set Dresser and an Environmental Coordinator. Andrea holds an Honours Bachelor’s Degree of Environmental Studies with a specialization in Environmental Management from York University. She has also completed the ISO 14001 Environmental Systems Management Internal Auditor training through the BSI Group. Having experience in the film industry has allowed her to understand the issues and challenges the film industry faces in its journey to be more sustainable. This experience together with her education has given her the tools needed to help find solutions to these challenges.
